These entries have a source stating that playing costs nothing: public tables and giant boards, free sessions run by clubs or groups, and events without an entry fee. Free here means free to play at the place or session described. It does not cover lessons, club membership or a drink at a café, which have their own lines on each card.
A free session can stop, start charging or move, so read the date at the end of each line before you plan around it. Places whose cost no source states are not on this page; on their cards the cost line reads not stated by sources rather than free, and that silence says nothing either way.
