Chess in Barcelona

Every entry on the list

All 141 entries in one place, grouped the same way as on the home page; 139 of them are live. An entry that both hosts games and teaches can appear under two headings.

Places where the chess has ended or moved come last, so an old link still leads to a dated answer. Each name opens the full card with its sources; the method page explains the flags and dates.

Marks after each entry: ✓ chess confirmed by a source on the date shown, → a date announced ahead or a move elsewhere, ? not confirmed since the date shown, × the chess has ended.

Chess clubs

Clubs with their own room and regular evenings. Whether a visitor can drop in is on each card, when a source states it.

Recurring tournaments

Opens, rapid and blitz events that return each season, shown with the latest dated edition we could find.

Cafés and bars with chess

Boards on the tables or a group that meets over a drink. Café chess comes and goes, so look at the date first.

Lessons and courses

Clubs, schools, coaches and civic centres that teach children or adults. Ages and prices appear only when a provider publishes them.

Outdoor tables and giant boards

Stone tables and giant sets in parks and squares. Pieces are not always there; each card says what its sources state.

Libraries and civic centres

Public libraries and centres cívics that put chess in their programme: an open table, a workshop or a course.

Groups, meet-ups and community events

Players who meet without a room of their own, open meet-ups and the events that bring the local scene together.

Chess shops

Shops that sell boards, clocks and books, listed when a source ties them to chess in the area.

Closed or moved

Places where the chess has ended or moved on. They stay listed so that an old link or a search still finds a dated answer.
